Greener in the green - Temi Tea Garden
The land of Heaven offer you much more than you could ever imagine, if you are visiting the Southern Part of Sikkim then you must not miss the most beautiful part of the place. "Temi Tea Garden" the world famous Tea is produce in these place, there is no beauty that can match the Nature beauties. It was established on 1969 covering the area of 177 hectares. Temi tea garden lies between Damthang and Temi Bazaar.
How beautiful is the place?
There is no proper or exact word to describe the beauty of the Garden, you will not regret going there, only if you are allergic to green. Tourists are usually shown the area which is convenient for the guide as well as tourist themselves. Spare your time to visit the most beautiful part of the Garden, you can walk the entire garden and can enjoy the Untamed part as well as you can visit the small DHURA(village) which are located in the Garden. You will be surprise as well as you will be in love with the place and there people. You can visit the Tea Factory where varieties of tea are being produces if you are lucky than you can get some freshly made tea, like I did.
Best time to visit?
There is no exact time to visit the place as it is always green but if you intent to see more and to take more in your DSLR , the best time to visit is on November where you can see the cheery blooming with Cherry Festival organise by the Temi Tea Garden members with the help of local. Oh! and you can enjoy paragliding and cycling too.
What are the types of tea we can drink?
There are varieties of flavours to taste that you must not miss:
Temi Tea, Sikkim Solja, Kanchenzonga Tea, Mystique, Green Tea.
You can find the above tea on any local shop or you can buy in cafe which is located in the garden itself. The range of the tea varies according to its quality.
Willing to visit the place?
You can contact Drive to North East or if you are more adventurous and want to save more, then you can go to the local taxi stand of Namchi (main town of South District), Singtam , Gangtok. People of state are very kind and helpful they will be happy to help tourists who are in need of their locally guidance.
From Namchi to Tea Garden:- 20.1 km 55 mins via NH710. Local fare – Rs 80
From Singtam to Tea Garden:- 15 KM 35 mins. Local fare – Rs 60
From Gangtok to Tea Garden:- 47.0 km 2h 3 min. Local Fare – Rs 110
